"Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act"

H.B. 218

The Georgia Public Safety Training Center is proud to begin offering firearms training to retired Police Officers who meet the requirements of H.B. 218, the "Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act."

Registration will be conducted on a first-come-first-serve basis, and class frequency will be dependant on demand. Each class will be of 4 hour duration and include classroom instruction on topics such as Firearms Safety, an overview of H.B. 218 as it applies to retired officers, and OCGA 16-3-21. Requalification on the Georgia Semi-Automatic Pistol Course, or Georgia Double Action Course will follow. Successful candidates will receive wallet size documentation that they have met the standards for qualification under this Act.

Ammunition will be provided in .38 spl., 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Ammunition in other calibers must be provided by the officer.

Officers must provide:

Photographic identification issued by the agency from which they were employed indicating that they are retired in good standing

A safe serviceable semi-automatic pistol or revolver

An appropriate holster system and reloading devices designed for the weapon

Registration fee of $100.00
